Started in 2012, Evans Homestead grew from a dream to a reality and is constantly growing and adapting to the needs of the land.
Our Company
Evans Homestead is a small 5 family member run farm and each of us has our unique skills that we love to share with others to better themselves and ourselves.
Brad first started with outdoor/survival skills back in his high school days when in the scouting program and he earned his Eagle Scout award in Munich, Germany and has completed the AFRC Mountaineering School down in Garmish, Germany. He is currently a Disaster Preparedness Trainer for the Medical Reserve Corps. Brad is also a Military Veteran and the former Sgt. at Arms for a local American Legion Post and former Director of the American Legion Riders. He has taught adults and kids for several years now.
Melissa has been teaching school age children for around 20 years. She is a graduate of the Level I survival school at Camp Tonkowa. She is the primary instructor for the Evans Homestead Academy.
Strategy
Our strategy is simple- Offer Fresh, Local, Natural products that are grown, raised or made on our farm, as well as classes that could benefit both children and adults in several topics.
Safety
Even on a farm, Safety is one of the most important.
Please note that Evans Homestead is a working farm with live animals. Please ensure that your children do not pet or chase any of our animals. We will have a short safety meeting as well as a short time to view and pet (only with our ok) some of the animals. We have cattle, goats, lambs, chickens, ducks, geese, guinea hens, as well as cats and dogs. We have a security plan in place for any wild animals that might happen to come onto our land for you, your children and our protection.
Environment & Sustainability
At Evans Homestead, we believe working with the environment while raising our animals. We rotate our animals onto fresh grass when needed to keep the animals happy as well as keeping the grassland viable for the future. We practice sustainable techniques and participate in all sustainable classes that we can to have the greatest knowledge in regards to being the best stewards to the land.
