Evans Homestead
Cub Scout Pack Event
Welcome Pack 11 from the Evans Homestead
We at the Evans Homestead are excited that you and your scout are coming out to our farm to participate in a wonderful day, full of activities that will help your scout with his next rank.
At the current time we are planning on working on the following activities:
Leave no Trace
Fire building and outdoor cooking
Whittling Chip
Nature Hike
Flag Etiquette- including a special flag retirement
Please note that Evans Homestead is a working farm with live animals. Please ensure that your scout does not pet or chase any of our animals. We will have a short safety meeting as well as a short time to view and pet (only with our ok) some of the animals. We have cattle, goats, lambs, chickens, ducks, geese, guinea hens, as well as cats and dogs. We have a security plan in place for any wild animals that might happen to come onto our land for you, your scouter and our protection.
Items to bring:
Chair- some of the activities will be in an outdoor classroom environment so a chair is a plus
Good sturdy walking shoes/boots
Good sturdy outdoor clothesLAYERS- due to our great Texas weather, we do not know what the temp will be and having layers that you can add or take off helps you and your scout stay much more comfortable.
Foldable BSA approved knife. Parents should hold onto these until we get to the Whittling Chip section for safety reasons.
